About Us

Our members are all either born or raised in the Lake Como community. We are men of different skills, abilities and characteristic traits united in the struggle of making Lake Como better and preserving it's history. We pray that by us standing up as men that we can inspire, motivate and bring the community together as One. One Love, One Community.

Mission: To eradicate the abnormally high rates of poverty, illiteracy, incarceration and death that plague youth of color by means of Mentorship(LIT) and Education.

LIT Mentorship program uses the TIME Method (Transform the mind and the heart,  Instill Respect, Integrity, Accountability and Responsibility,

Motivate the desire to Change, Empower them to BE the Change) to  target factors that have been found to put African American males on pathways to a life of poverty, incarceration, or death. The eight factors are Systemic Racism, Poverty, Lack of Acccess to quality healthcare, Exposure to violence, Lack of positive role models, Educational disparities, and Lack of economic opportunity. This curriculum seeks to provide the youth with the skills and mindset to strategically combat each of the eight risk factors. These strategies are taught in the context of a group mentoring program in which the participants receive didactic instruction as well as opportunities to be supported by mentors as they practice using the skills.
